The Deep Wisdom Of Body

Do you know what your body is?

It isn’t small, large, or defined by its weight on a scale.
It isn’t a pinpointed shade among a vast color wheel.
It isn’t more athletic than it is artistic; more boisterous than it is shy.
It isn’t a bundle of qualities that you can superficially name.

It is alive, wide-eyed, conscious, and powerful.

It is an indestructible case of bones, wrapped with thick flesh, electrical wiring, and wild red rivers.

My body is far more than what I have ever been able to give it credit for.

I don't want to critique and criticize my body anymore, shining a bit less with each visit from the media.
If we are going to judge ourselves, let's begin judging our bodies on its ability to move us. Our eyes for their ability to see beauty. The strength of our arms to wrap around and comfort those we love.

We are finely tuned and capable of much.

We carry the blood of our ancestors; strong lineages of lovers, fighters, hunters, and survivors. We are tangled with miracles, and it is necessary to clear away all the debris telling you otherwise. Practice meditation and focus on you. The more we are able to reduce outside opinions and influences, the more we understand who we truly are and what it is that we actually want.

Take it easy on yourself-

Among so many spiritual concepts and themes of enlightenment, growth, and “becoming the best version of ourselves”- I have found that they give people equal parts therapy and anxiety. They imply imperfection, like a destination to ourselves that we hope to one day make it to.

You cannot become more of what you already are.

I always thought that meditation was a tool to help tune out and leave the physical in order to dive into the world of the divine. Then one day I realized how ridiculous it was to view body and spirit as separate entities. One can not exist without the other. You cannot experience the feeling of weightlessness without the density of body. So take a deep breath, knowing that every time you do so you are in communion with the very godhead you are searching for. Rather than chasing perfection, and carving ourselves with stress and pressure- what if  all we needed to do was peel away all the layers telling us we are anything but perfect?
