Welcome To The World of Water

Over the holidays I was on a flight home and while looking out the window at the clouds below, I couldn't help but think “wow, what a world.”

It is always such a perspective shift when you look at something from an eagle-eyed view. As the grids of houses drifted away, I began to wonder what it would be like to try explaining this world to a new, curious soul.

It went something like this…

"Welcome to the blue planet. You choose your own adventure here.

You will have a body…and it lives through density and the laws of gravity. It's anchored to the earth like a floating bobber cast out on smooth water. You don't quite remember what rod sent you out, but that invisible line is one that you sense and feel always.

There will be music.. and certain harmonies that make life click into place. Certain songs you will like more than others. Certain notes that will come together in a symphony that completely shifts your chemistry.. and it's different for everyone, and it's kind of a mystery why.

In fact.. there are a lot of mysteries. You will be given the most agreed upon explanations of the most unexplainable.. but during your time there, do not lose your love for everything that lies in the unknown. The unknown is a strange force that brings both pain, and inspiration. When inspiration is dim, remember that some of the greatest moments of your life haven't even happened yet- and keep your eyes set on the little enchanting moments that surround you. You will still be suspended in space, after all.

You will live on the ground, but be able to fly on big pieces of machinery… and you can watch as you rise above every single cloud layer. You can look out over the world and say a silent blessing to cloak it with love. You will not be able to see the effects of your words, but you believe in it its power anyway- and that's the force that makes it real.

You will feel pendulum swings of emotion that feel like bottomless pits of despair, and overwhelming bliss. The highs makes you feel as if those old caverns will never get low again… and yet those times will return, and you will harbor even more strength to travel through them.

In this world, your heart will swell with such a great depth of feeling… and if you don't put a lid on that sensation, and journey into it- your eyes will well up with the water you are made of. We call it tears as they roll down each cheek.. and if they land upon your lips, it tastes like the salt in the sea.

Here it is not about the pursuit of calm waters, but the ability to shift with the tides as they come. The ability to grow in perception, experience, and stories. The wisdom to not wish away the ebbs and flows of our lives, but be courageous enough to withstand them. To know life is not defined by perfection, but fullness.

Because one day.. earth's density will release its hold more and more. The spine will shrink slightly, as the body compresses, and the spirit opens.

Welcome to the world of water. You made an agreement here to give it all you got."
